Joe
Joe has been a quazi-voyageur since the day he was born, in spirit and practice if not in full costume. From a childhood spent in the forests of Northern Ontario he has gone on to pursue an education in Outdoor Recreation and education at Lakehead University.
His interest with nature and history led him to Fort William Historical Park for a summer, where on his fateful last day he was bitten by a radioactive beaver. He was granted the obvious powers of the beaver: the ability to shed water, the ability to make an awesome coat, and the ability to travel back in time. Unfortunately, due to a lack of proper disguise (as seen in the picture) he was quickly singled out as an American Fur Company spy and chased back to the future. Upon his return he enjoyed his experience so much he joined the 2008 David Thompson Brigade for a week paddling through Quetico Provincial Park (an event which actually happened before he worked at Fort William).
Since then Joe has visited several time periods and paddled the lakes and rivers a thousand times. Unfortunately, it is well documented that beavers have bad memory, so he can't remember much of it. He looks forward to the thousand and first time out, paddling the Columbia River, and will provide valuable skills such as postmonitions (the opposite of premonitions – he will warn for rocks after the canoe hits them) and felling trees that block their path.
Viva la castor man!
