Our brigade is starting to take definite shape, with a fundraising event on Friday! Going over the songs and jigs of the 19th century in a living room around pile of good food is the perfect way to prepare for the same around a campfire in the mountains. With the amount of musicians in our group it's virtually certain that we'll be playing historic tunes from the headwaters to the mouth of the river.
That said, we're also buckling down to the serious business of provisioning. We intend to do things properly, and that means a lot of dried meat, fish, and berries need to be found on the cheap. I intend to make up a few packets of pemmican (I've done this before with mixed results) for the journey. This time the facilities are slightly better than before when I pounded meat dried overnight in an oven using a plastic cutting board and a hammer on my basement floor. This actually turned out fairly tasty, against all odds.
There's a lot to be done for fundraising, and still more to be done to get our historic gear in shape for June. (If anyone knows where one might find massive pieces of  canvas, or unbleached egyptian cotton sheets (even used ones) to stitch up a few more tents let me know. I imagine we'll find some somewhere, or just use art canvas.

Thanks for all your support
